Review for course: Troubleshooting Blocking and Deadlocks for Beginners
Just finished up this course and it was fantastic. The presentation of the content was in small enough pieces that made it easy to do during a break or lunch. The content was very clear and well presented and the demo scripts were easy to walk through. Great job and I am looking forward to the next one.

Review for course: Troubleshooting Blocking and Deadlocks for Beginners
This was a really fun course. I always like it when a teacher takes a topic beyond the basic definition of the problem and solution, and into the guts underneath–you learn so much more about a topic when you start to develop a sense of the topic’s etymology. The interview questions section was a really nice touch; I’m trying to change jobs at the moment, and Kendra gives some great framing on how to show off understanding of the technology. Great stuff; can’t wait for more.

Review for course: Tuning Problem Queries in Table Partitioning
A great course on tuning queries against partitioned tables. Kendra covers several different types of query anti-patterns when it comes to partitioning, in both a fun but thorough manner. I would recommend this course to any developer or DBA who has to deal, or will potentially deal with partitioned tables.

Review for course: Tuning Problem Queries in Table Partitioning
This course presented the topic really well! I have read about most of these partitioned query challenges in small chunks on various blogs, but this course does a really good job of putting all of those challenges together in a way that made it really digestible and easy to remember.

Review for course: Troubleshooting Blocking and Deadlocks for Beginners
If I have to describe this course in 2 words, I would say “Simply awesome”. I was facing a real world blocking issue with one of my applications and while doing research on internet I ended up on this course. This course give me lot of information and knowledge about free tools available to get more details about the blocking issue and to solve them. I am very appreciated to Kendra for creating a course like this and that too free. Looking forward for many courses like this. Thanks a lot.

Thank you, Kendra! A well structured is always a pleasure to watch. My favorite part was giving code names (e.g. sneaky blocker) to different locking types. That really helped to organize my existing knowledge!

Fantastic course. Doesn’t assume you know too many basics and provides straight forward, hands-on approach to using this not just learning about it.

Review for course: Why Creating an Index Can Slow Down a Query
Excellent course, well-produced. Especially useful because it gives upsides and downsides to different solutions and discusses how selecting the “best” solution may depend on different factors.

Review for course: Tuning Problem Queries in Table Partitioning
I liked this course. There are not many courses focused on tuning partitioned tables along with column indexes out there and Kendra does cover this topic in a brief and concise way that does not cloud you with too much information.

Review for course: How Index Keys & Included Columns Work.
This is an excellent short course for seeing how these indexes are stored and how they work. The next time you need to add an index, you should have a much better understanding of how to order the columns in a composite key, and what to include so the query optimizer can make use of it.
